Maira watched her parents produce coffee as she was growing up and became very familiar with the process. After graduating high school, she used her savings to purchase a small plot of land to grow coffee on her own.
Years later, she was recruited to become the manager of the cooperative COMIPRONIL. In the past 13 years, she's been running the cooperative and advocating for equality in the coffee fields. She's known for growing exceptional coffee, yes, and promoting the Lenca Indigenous group, empowering them to take ownership of their craft in coffee.
