Produced by several coffee clubs in Tanzania, this peaberry coffee, aptly named Next Gen, is the result of a collective effort of the Igale AMCOS CO-OP.
This initiative was designed, in part, to educate high school students on coffee cultivation and production. Part of "Next Gen" is produced by this next generation of coffee growers—hence the name! The result is a fantastic cup of coffee, with notes of molasses and tamarind and a juicy finish. It's a rich and fruity morning cup.
Traditionally, the Igale AMCOS has collected home-processed parchment. But this season, it decided to produce part of its coffee as fully washed and purchased a Penagos eco-pulper to process the cherries. Since it was their first year using the pulper, they expect to increase local interest and volumes next season.
For future harvests, they plan on building more drying tables to handle larger volumes - which means more of this amazing Tanzania coffee for us...!
