Origin Story” is especially near and dear to our Treeline hearts because it represents where our story began and how Treeline Coffee Roasters came to be.

During a motorcycle trip through Colombia in 2008, our fearless leader Natalie discovered the craft of roasting coffee. Inspired by her time in Colombia and fascinated by the art of coffee, she founded Little Red Wagon Coffee Roasters in 2013. Soon after opening shop, she began sourcing coffee from Samaria—a beautiful farm in Colombia’s coffee region and now one of Treeline’s longest-standing sourcing partnerships. Samaria not only produces its own coffees but also works with neighboring farms to export their beans.

Today, we bring you the newest rendition of Origin Story. This coffee is syrupy, floral, bright, and a fantastic natural process standout to add to your lineup. Brought to you from Mr. Gilberto and Mrs. Fabiola’s Finca San Jose, this is sure to become a new favorite if you love bold, interesting flavors.

Finca San Jose is rooted in the story of immigrants from Antioquia—hard-working people with a deep love for family and the land—who arrived in Santa Rosa de Cabal in 1934. Santa Rosa de Cabal, located in the Western Cordillera of Risaralda, is one of the region’s 14 municipalities. Its economy is based on agriculture, with coffee as one of the main sources of income. The area offers fertile soils and an optimal climate for coffee cultivation. It’s here that Mr. Gilberto and Mrs. Fabiola began the history of Finca San Jose with the purchase of a small piece of land. Over the years, Mr. Gilberto expanded the farm by purchasing neighboring plots, consolidating what is now Finca San Jose.

Risaralda is one of Colombia’s departments, located in the country’s center-west within the Andean region. It forms part of the Coffee Axis alongside the departments of Caldas, Quindío, southwest Antioquia, and northern Valle del Cauca. The department includes 14 municipalities, with Pereira as its capital, where coffee growing remains one of the main sources of employment.

P.S. Our Blackbeard Espresso - an absolute staple within our cafes - is also sourced from Samaria!
